Happy New Year! A Brevard County Contractors 2014 year in review
December 31, 2014 By Paul Peck
I just wanted to say Happy New Year to all my past, present and future customers and fellow contractors. It's been a very busy year and I've worked with some great people throughout the year. Looking over my 2014 year in review, It seemed like the economy here in Brevard County was on the upswing with lot's of activity in the residential real estate and existing homeowner markets. Which included a bounty of renovation, remodel, home improvement and repair contracts throughout 2014. For that I Am very grateful. I completed many interior and exterior painting projects, stucco repair, pool deck repair, ceiling repair, drywall repair, texture matching and even soundproofing from Melbourne to Viera, Melbourne Beach, Suntree, Cocoa Beach, Satellite Beach, Indian Harbour Beach, Indialantic, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa and Merritt Island here on the Space Coast. Here's just a few of … [Read More...]
Cocoa Beach Popcorn Ceiling is Falling Down!
March 19, 2019 By Paul Peck
The sprayed on popcorn texture (also known as acoustical ceiling texture) was falling off of this Cocoa Beach condo's ceiling. Of course right smack in the middle of the ceiling in the main livingroom. That just so happen to have one of the best views of the Banana River that Cocoa Beach has to offer. Right when I looked at this ceiling I knew that a tape joint had been previously repaired at one of the drywall seams. My guess would be that when this popcorn ceiling had been repaired before. The contractors didn't prime the dusty surface after removing the old tape joint and scraping back the popcorn texture at the repair to be able to re secure and re mud the new drywall taping and mudding areas.. Dust surfaces are not the ideal area to try and do drywall finishing on. These types of ceiling repairs will surely fail if the proper preparations are not done at the beginning of a … [Read More...]

Melbourne Beach water damaged drywall and popcorn ceiling repair
January 30, 2019 By Paul Peck
On this water damaged drywall and popcorn ceiling repair project in Melbourne Beach. The homeowners were looking to put their beach home on the real estate market to sell. But before they could, they needed to do several home repairs. Doing just a few of the basics like ceiling repairs, drywall repairs, pressure washing, exterior painting and interior painting can make your home more appealing to potential buyers. But can also triple or even quadruple the home sellers ROI (return on investment) that was put into getting your home improvements done by a licensed contractor. First on the list after getting their roof repaired. Next they had contracted me to repair a portion of the living room's water damaged drywall ceiling that had fallen down and another larger section on the garage ceiling and a 4'x 6' section of the garage wall. The garage ceiling had really bad dark … [Read More...]
Chinese drywall mystery solved!
April 18, 2019 By Paul Peck
Chinese drywall mystery? Sulfur smell and corrosion tests negative for Chinese Drywall. I received a call from a realtor that stated a house that was on the market had been flagged during the routine home inspection after the buyers offer had been accepted. The inspector had found black corrosion on copper water lines and there was a strong smell of sulphur in the house is what caused him write "Possible Chinese drywall" in his inspection report. So until this home was inspected by a chinese drywall expert this sale was on hold if not lost. So I proceeded to ask all the usual questions when I get contacted about Chinese drywall. What year was the house built? Realtor say's: 2001 Have there been any renovations or any type of drywall repairs or ceiling repairs? Realtor: Yes a kitchen remodel Is there any visible corrosion? Realtor: Yes Is there a sulphur … [Read More...]
Cocoa, FL Exterior House Painting Project
August 10, 2018 By Paul Peck
On this Cocoa, Florida exterior repaint in Port Saint John we repaired several staircase stucco cracks, damaged stucco from the hurricane shutters and a buckled stucco area at the front entrance of this Cocoa, Fl home. Water had gotten behind the decorative stucco piece and rusted out the wire lathe at the front entrance of this South facing 10 year old home. Which ultimately caused the stucco to buckle and fail in that area. The whole house had chalky and faded paint that we had to deal with by priming all of the surfaces to be painted first, before we could start the exterior house painting. Here's the steps we took to prep and paint the exterior of this Cocoa, Fl home: 1) After digging out 4" to 6" around the perimeter of this homes exterior stucco walls 2) We pressure washed all of the exterior surfaces to be painted on this stucco home. 3) Then … [Read More...]
Water damage drywall repair and orange peel texture match
October 25, 2019 By Paul Peck
This water damage drywall repair and texture matching project is in the Cloisters subdivision of Indialantic, Fl. We were contacted by a past customer to do a drywall repair on the already cut out and dried out the water damaged walls in two of the guest bedrooms of their home. Water had got the drywall wet on the one exterior wall in each of the two guest bedrooms of this four bedroom home here in Brevard County. Once we arrived the drywall had already been cutout up to the window sill around 20" in one bedroom and at 16" on the other bedrooms wall. The base board and carpet had been removed by the water restoration company when the plumbing leak had first occurred. So, all we had to do to get this drywall repair party started, was to prep the floors and cover personal items with plastic. Next, I used the paper masking machine to cover the window sills and bi-fold doors … [Read More...]
Knockdown textured ceiling bubbling while painting lanai in Rockledge, Fl.
April 6, 2018 By Paul Peck
Textured patio ceiling bubbling, blistered or falling down? I've seen this issue quite a few times over the years on knockdown, skip trowel, orange peel and popcorn textured exterior drywall ceilings. In this video I'm scraping the areas where the knockdown texture and paint had bubbled. So today while on an complete exterior repaint in Rockledge, Fl. I was painting the first coat of exterior latex paint on the lanai ceiling, when the knockdown texture on the exterior drywall pool patio ceiling started to come off on to my roller nap. The ceiling texture had bubbled in two separate areas. It was as if the texture itself had lost any adhesion and all that was left after peeling the texture off was bare drywall which was dusty just like the back of the texture sheet that I removed. I'm not sure if the ceiling was painted to soon before the knockdown texture had dried completely back … [Read More...]
Chinese Drywall Inspection Confirms Toxic Chinese Drywall in Palm Bay
December 27, 2018 By Paul Peck
Chinese Drywall confirmed in a Palm Bay, FL neighborhood Toxic Chinese Drywall I was called out to do a Chinese drywall inspection on a home that was built in 2006. This beautiful home was located in a gated community neighborhood in the Melbourne / Palm Bay area on the Space Coast of Florida. The concerning thing is that this paticular home was the model home when this entire was in the construction phase. So this mean that the whole neighbor hood could potentially have the toxic Chinese Drywall! The home was all set for closing when the final home inspection came back as "Possible Chinese Drywall" due to the home being built in the timeframe when Chinese drywall was being shipped here to the East Coast of the United States by the container and ship load... When I arrived to the home for the Chinese drywall inspection there was a strong odor that smelt like rotten eggs … [Read More...]

The prices at Peck Drywall and Painting are very reasonable. I'm kind of picky but I would give them A's.
I have a stucco home that needed painting and some minor stucco repair. Paul Peck came out to give an estimate in person at my earliest convenience and was very knowledgable and professional. His estimate was competitive with the four other estimates I received and he was able to start the job within a short period of time. He was present each day and his crew is very skilled and courteous. They worked around inclement weather and kept me informed of any issues or schedule adjustments. I am absolutely delighted with the finished result and would not hesitate to recommend this company to other Angie's List members.
Called Pecks right before selling my home. House was 2 years old and had some stucco cracks and fading on outside and picture holes in wall on inside. Got an estimate fast, it was a good price to do everything I wanted and the house looks better than it did when I bought it new once Paul was done. Definitely highly recommend if you need any drywall, painting or repair work completed
Member Comments: The job went very well except for a few delays due to weather. Peck arrived as scheduled and began with a pressure cleaning of the entire house and also pulling the soil back from around the bottom edge of the house to allow for paint application down to the ground level. A 6 foot verticle section of rotted wood trim board was replaced at one of the house corners. A piece of trim board was also added around a window. Both of these trim pieces were installed very well and blended in perfectly with the existing wood trim.
Three coats of paint were applied to the entire house; a sealer coat then 2 top coats. The paint came out beautifully with fine attention to detail. The work site was cleaned up every day.
I want to express my great appreciation for a job very well done when you and your team fixed the badly damaged popcorn ceiling of my condo in Cocoa Beach. I am impressed with the perfection of the job, the professionalism of your team and the great price of the work. Your work is totally consistent with the advertising in your webpage. Definitely, I will call you for my future projects.
